Ramseur Board of Commissioners – Parks & Recreation – January 2019

January 16, 2019 Off By Jay Hubbard

At the January 7, 2019 meeting of the Ramseur Board of Commissioners, Commissioner Vickie Caudle reported on plans to organize little league baseball teams for children 10 and under who live within the Ramseur Elementary School district.

There was a lively discussion of insurance, age limits, gate fees and concessions. Fees of $45 per child will cover insurance, team registrations within the community league, and the cost of a cap and shirt for each player.

A $3,000 grant from Dart Corporation was accepted to help purchase equipment and make the ball fields at Leonard Park ready for use. Children will compete within a league that includes teams from the Franklinville, Liberty, Grays Chapel, and other communities around the area. Registration will be held at the Ramseur Municipal Build, 724 Liberty Street, on Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Saturdays, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, January 14 to February, 14, 2019.

A scholarship fund to ensure that no child who wants to play is left out due to financial hardship was also discussed. Questions about making contributions should be directed to Commissioner Caudle (v.caudle@townoframseur.org or 336-302-1300) or call Town Hall at 336-824-8530.  The full discussion can be viewed in the video below.
